Lea Ceramiche’s new windows in collaboration with Diego Grandi brings the latest workspace trends to Milan

Designed by the internationally-acclaimed designer Diego Grandi, Out of Office is the latest installation in the Lea Ceramiche Showroom in Milan. Investigating the interplay between creativity and technology, the window focuses particularly on the unique and distinctive. Exploring the theme of coworking, the space recreates an alternative interpretation of the traditional office by introducing a relaxation area. The concept of the traditional work mindset is no longer simply designed as a functional space, but instead becomes a place that is attractive and comfortable. Both of these themes are becoming increasingly popular trends in the design of interior workspaces.

The new Slimtech Delight and Bio Select collections are the stars of the show. Previously unveiled at the latest edition of CERSAIE, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings in Bologna, Italy, Diego Grandi has chosen to present and interpret these collections with his signature style and flair. The walls that divide the space meander along the floor and highlight the unique features of the collections.

Delight’s original reinterpretation of precious marble has striking visual impact. Calacatta Oro, the most compelling marble effect within this collection, runs through the surface in the polished version of the large Slimtech laminated stoneware slabs (available in sizes up to 260x120cm with a thickness of just 6mm).  On the other walls, one will find other aesthetic variations, including Invisible Light, Venato Bianco and the intense Marquina Nero. The visitor is invited to experience the different textures of these big display panels and explore the surfaces both visually and physically. Together with the traditional Lev finish which brings to mind the classic polish of marble, and Nat, the opaque and textured finish, the installation also introduces the new Touch texture, a new soft and smooth surface; inspired by marble, the surface of the tiles has been treated to enhance veining and depth.

Bio Select complements and works in perfect harmony with Delight, lending warmth to the work station area with its wooden floors. The natural and elegant grain combines with the unique long slats, showcasing the new 130x180cm size. The dynamic floor layout echoes the colours and patterns of oak and walnut, while on the wall the geometric pattern of ABC mosaic demonstrates how ceramics can be turned into a key decorative element.

The visionary approach of Diego Grandi, with whom Lea Ceramique has enjoyed a long working relationship, has transformed the space at Lea Ceramiche Showroom Milano with Slimtech Delight and Bio Select. The interplay of the two new collections reveals the expressive potential of ceramics and proposes new applications in interior design and architecture.

"Since 2003 I have created five collections for Lea Ceramiche, which have marked several key moments in a process of interpreting the material, a process that has been constant over time."
